What "ServSafe-equivalent" actually means
The Conference for Food Protection (CFP) sets the standard for Food Protection Manager certification programs, and ANAB accredits the programs that meet it. When a health code requires a certified food protection manager, it points to that accreditation — not to a specific company. Several accredited programs exist; ServSafe® is the best known, and the exam we proctor through Always Food Safe carries the same accreditation.

If your employer buys ServSafe in bulk, or your jurisdiction names a specific provider in writing, follow that. - Health departments generally require a Food Protection Manager certification from an ANSI-CFP / ANAB accredited program. ServSafe is one such program; the certification we proctor is another. Both carry the same accreditation, which is what regulators check. A small number of jurisdictions name a specific provider, so confirm locally if you have any doubt.
- You're paying one independent proctor instead of a test-center network, and the retake is bundled instead of sold separately. The exam standard and accreditation are unchanged.
- No. Every exam we proctor is online and remotely proctored, and there is no appointment — you open it whenever you are ready, including nights and weekends.
- Yes. When your ServSafe certificate expires you can renew with an ANAB-accredited manager exam through us; there's no requirement to stay with the same provider.
- Five years in most states, the same as other ANAB-accredited manager certifications. A few jurisdictions set a shorter renewal cycle, so check your local code.
