Where we work, and who inspects you there.

The exam is online, so we certify people in all 50 states. These pages are for the cities we know first-hand — each one links you to the health district that actually inspects your kitchen, and tells you plainly what we can and cannot verify about local practice.

  • One page per city, with that city's health district linked
  • The Virginia certified food protection manager rule, quoted in full
  • $149 manager certification · $19 food handler cards

How to use these pages

Every Virginia food establishment falls under the same state regulation, so a "city requirement" is usually the state requirement being applied by a local inspector. That means two things. First, the credential you need is the same in Norfolk as it is in Suffolk. Second, the person who can settle an argument about your specific establishment is your local health district, not us and not a website.

So each city page quotes 12VAC5-421-55 verbatim, links the correct health district, and separates what's verifiable from what isn't. We don't publish invented local rules, and we don't publish testimonials we can't attribute.
